BRS leader KT Rama Rao says Telangana lost ₹15,000 crore due to L&T’s exit from Hyderabad Metro, blaming CM Revanth Reddy’s “ego-driven politics.”
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday, September 28, accused Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of costing the state ₹15,000 crore following L&T’s exit from the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), KTR, the Sircilla MLA, wrote: “One man’s incompetence & Telangana suffers. You managed to derail the development of Telangana, yet again! Not just because of your insurmountable incompetence but also because of your superfluous ego.”
The former Telangana municipal administration minister blamed what he described as Revanth Reddy’s “super inflated ego” for the abrupt cancellation of the Airport Metro line, which was rerouted towards a “nonexistent ‘Fourth City’” allegedly to serve the CM’s “real estate needs.”
KTR further alleged that Reddy had boasted on national television about instructing the police to jail the CFO of L&T, claiming this was part of a deliberate attempt to malign the company and intimidate it over issues linked to the Medigadda barrage in the Kaleshwaram project.
“You threatened a huge corporation like L&T with cases in Medigadda just for your sick political narratives and commissions,” KTR charged. He described the incident as revenge politics that had now backfired. “But luckily for L&T, they don’t have to put up with an incompetent Chief Minister, unlike the rest of Telangana. They are walking away!”
KTR claimed that the exit of L&T would burden Telangana taxpayers with ₹15,000 crore in additional debt, holding the Congress government responsible for “goondagardi (rowdyism) and poor governance.”
He also criticized the Revanth Reddy-led government for its alleged failures, including issues with fee reimbursement, a stalled Arogyasri programme, pending six guarantees, and what he called a severe financial crisis in the state.
