AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi downplays the importance of the ‘Marwari Go Back’ campaign amidst rising tensions between local and Marwari traders.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi downplayed the significance of the ongoing ‘Marwari Go Back’ campaign affecting traders in the state. When asked about the social media-driven campaign, Owaisi stated that it should not be given much importance, describing it as one of the many issues that arise sporadically.
He urged caution against escalating such matters, noting that while some issues may arise here and there, extending them to larger levels would not be beneficial. The campaign, mainly supported by local traders and Dalit activists, revolves around allegations that Marwari businessmen are involved in selling adulterated and duplicate products, which purportedly cause significant losses to local traders.
Owaisi’s remarks highlight a call for restraint amid growing tensions between business communities in the state, suggesting a focus on dialogue and avoidance of divisive rhetoric in addressing the concerns of local traders.
