BJP MLA T Raja Singh faces FIR at Hyderabad’s Shah Ali Banda Police Station over alleged derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad during an event in Indore.
A case has been registered against Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh at Hyderabad’s Shah Ali Banda Police Station for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad during a Dussehra event held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
According to police sources, the FIR has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 61 and 67 of the IT Act. Several citizens lodged complaints condemning Singh’s alleged comments, calling them deeply offensive and provocative.
Officials confirmed that the video footage from the Indore event has been taken into custody and is being examined. The police said an investigation is underway and assured that “strict legal action will follow as per the law.”
T Raja Singh, a BJP MLA known for his hardline views, has been frequently accused of making inflammatory statements targeting minority communities.
Social Media Ban and Meta Action
Earlier this year, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, removed multiple accounts linked to T Raja Singh after a report by India Hate Lab (IHL) exposed widespread hate content originating from his pages.
The report found that two Facebook groups and three Instagram accounts managed by Singh’s team were used to spread communal narratives. The deleted groups had over one million members, while the Instagram pages had more than 155,000 followers.
Although Meta had banned Singh in 2020 under its policy on “dangerous individuals and organisations,” he allegedly continued to share his content through new accounts and proxies.
Track Record of Hate Speeches
According to the India Hate Lab report, T Raja Singh has delivered 32 hate speeches across India — including 22 instances of direct incitement to violence. His statements have repeatedly drawn public criticism and led to law and order tensions in several cities.
He has been accused of promoting communal hostility through rallies and social media videos, often using language deemed provocative and divisive.
Previous Arrest and Political Controversy
In August 2022, Singh was arrested by Hyderabad Police for allegedly making inflammatory remarks against a particular community. The arrest triggered widespread protests in the city.
Following the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suspended him from the party, citing violation of its code of conduct. However, the suspension was revoked ahead of the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections, allowing him to contest again from the Goshamahal constituency, where he retained his seat.
Despite repeated controversies, Singh continues to hold political relevance in Hyderabad, often positioning himself as a strong Hindutva voice within the state.
