Hyderabad South Zone Police conduct late-night vehicle checking near Shah Ali Banda
In a major drive aimed at crime prevention and public safety, the Hyderabad South Zone Police have conducted extensive vehicle checks and check-post operations across the city, leading to the seizure of more than 2,000 vehicles over the last ten days.
The large-scale operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) Kiran Khare. On Friday night, police set up a major check-post near Shah Ali Banda junction, where intensive inspections were conducted on passing vehicles.
110 Vehicles Seized for Number Plate Violations
During the operation, 110 vehicles were seized for either not having number plates or for tampered and altered registration plates, police officials said.
Speaking to the media, DCP Kiran Khare said that around 120 police personnel participated in the check-post operation. As part of the drive, fingerprint samples of suspicious individuals were also collected to verify criminal records and identify habitual offenders.
Public Safety, Not Harassment: Police
The DCP clarified that the drive was not intended to harass citizens, but was being conducted solely to ensure the safety of life and property in the city.
He issued a strong warning to rowdy-sheeters and individuals involved in criminal activities, stating that strict action would be taken against anyone found violating the law.
Crackdown to Continue
According to police, over 2,000 vehicles have been seized in the last ten days for various traffic and legal violations. Officials confirmed that such check-posts and inspection drives will continue in the coming days.
It may be recalled that Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar had recently launched a citywide Operation Cordon and Search, during which surprise vehicle checks were conducted across Hyderabad. At the time, the Commissioner had clearly stated that such operations would continue without prior notice.
Friday night’s sudden check-post at Shah Ali Banda was carried out in line with that directive, police said.
