Light to moderate thundershowers in various Hyderabad localities give respite from heat while IMD issues heavy rainfall warning for multiple Telangana districts
Thundershowers brought much-needed relief to isolated parts of Hyderabad on Wednesday, breaking the recent spell of intense heat. Areas including Uppal, Badangpet, BN Reddy Nagar, Nagole, Tarnaka, Habsiguda, Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, Kapra, and ECIL received light to moderate rainfall during the evening hours. However, parts of Secunderabad and the Cantonment Board remained dry without any precipitation.
In addition to these local showers, thundershowers were reported in upscale localities such as Banjara Hills and Punjagutta, while tech hubs like Gachibowli, Miyapur, and Kukatpally did not experience any rainfall. According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Hayathnagar recorded about 25 mm of rainfall, with other areas such as Riyasathnagar in Bandlaguda receiving 19.3 mm, Saroornagar and Viratnagar getting between 10 to 12 mm, and Tolichowki measuring 10 mm.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD-Hyderabad) issued an alert for heavy rainfall in several Telangana districts including Adilabad, KumuramBheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Siricilla, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mahabubabad, Siddipet, Medak, and Kamareddy. The warning is valid for the next 24 hours, urging residents to be prepared for potentially intense showers.
For the rest of Telangana, the IMD forecast predicts isolated thunderstorms and lightning activity, emphasizing the need for caution in outdoor activities. The weather update is expected to be welcomed by many as the region battles the heat during this season.
Residents are advised to stay updated with further forecasts and adhere to safety guidelines during periods of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to avoid mishaps.
