Police in Hyderabad traced a juvenile autorickshaw driver after a viral video showed him driving with a girl sitting on his lap near Malakpet’s Nalgonda Crossroads.
Hyderabad, November 8, 2025 — Hyderabad police have booked a juvenile autorickshaw driver after a video showing him driving with a girl sitting on his lap at Nalgonda Crossroads in Malakpet went viral on social media late Friday night.
The video, which circulated widely across local WhatsApp and X groups on Saturday morning, showed the boy and the girl engaging in a public display of affection while the autorickshaw was in motion towards Koti.
Police said the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. and was captured by multiple commuters.
Traced Through CCTV Footage
Following the outrage over the video, the Chaderghat Police launched a swift investigation.
“After verifying CCTV footage from Nalgonda to Koti, we identified the autorickshaw and its registration number,” said Chaderghat SHO Brahma Murari Kasani.
According to the SHO, the autorickshaw was registered in Nalgonda district and was later traced by the police. Teams have been dispatched to detain the juvenile driver, who is currently absconding.
“The viral video has been collected as evidence,” the SHO confirmed.
Eyewitness Accounts
Eyewitnesses told police that the juvenile driver became agitated when passersby tried to record the incident on their mobile phones.
“He shouted at people and drove away recklessly when some commuters pointed out his behaviour,” a witness at the spot told officers.
Case Registered
Police have registered a case under sections related to public indecency, underage driving, and public nuisance. The investigation is ongoing, and officials said the juvenile’s guardians may also face legal action for allowing him to operate the vehicle illegally.
Authorities also warned that the incident reflects a growing issue of underage and unlicensed drivers operating vehicles in city limits — a problem that has led to multiple road safety violations in recent months.
Police Warning Against Public Misconduct
“The city police are monitoring such activities closely,” SHO Kasani added. “Anyone found violating traffic rules or engaging in indecent public behaviour will face strict action. Parents are also advised to ensure that minors do not operate vehicles.”
The case has sparked renewed debate on social media about youth conduct, road safety, and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic and decency laws across Hyderabad.
