KBC 17 contestants Shauryajeet Singh and Vivaan Srivastava win hearts with their intelligence and charm on Amitabh Bachchan’s quiz show.
The first contestant of the evening, Shauryajeet Singh, a fourth-standard student from New Delhi, proudly introduced himself as a #Mastermind, declaring,
“I have planned whatever I want to do in future.”
Fascinated by science and space, Shauryajeet told Big B that while most children dream of becoming astronauts, he wants to stay on Earth and build rockets.
“Mujhe zameen pe paer rakhna hai. Durr nahi jana hai,” he said, leaving Amitabh Bachchan smiling in amusement.
An emotional moment on the hotseat
Shauryajeet reached the ₹50,000 question:
“In the Mahabharata, who among these was a Kaurava?”
Options: A. Dronacharya, B. Duryodhana, C. Bhima, D. Nakula.
He chose Option A (Dronacharya), which unfortunately turned out to be incorrect. The correct answer was B. Duryodhana.
Disappointed, the young contestant broke down and said,
“Ek chance milta hai aur usme bhi galti kar diya.”
Amitabh Bachchan, along with Shauryajeet’s parents, comforted him with kind words and applause, appreciating his knowledge and confidence.
Enter Vivaan Srivastava: The math-loving foodie
After Shauryajeet, Vivaan Srivastava, a sixth-standard student from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, took the hotseat. Calling himself a foodie, Vivaan quickly impressed Amitabh Bachchan with his quick responses to math-based questions.
When Big B asked if mathematics was his favourite subject, Vivaan responded with a confident “Yes.”
Vivaan aces the quiz with quick thinking
For his ₹50,000 question, Vivaan used the Gyanastra lifeline:
“What do the letters ‘SE’ stand for in the abbreviation of the national-level education board CBSE?”
Options: A. School Education, B. Set Education, C. Scholar Education, D. Secondary Education.
He locked Option D (Secondary Education) — the correct answer — and advanced confidently.
Later, in the Flip the Question round, Vivaan faced a question about sports. For his ₹1 lakh question, he used the Audience Poll lifeline:
“Which pigment, found in the chloroplasts of plants, is responsible for absorbing light energy during photosynthesis?”
Options: A. Haemoglobin, B. Melanin, C. Keratin, D. Chlorophyll.
Vivaan chose Option D (Chlorophyll) — correct again!
A perfect finish to a brilliant performance
For the ₹2 lakh question, Vivaan used his final Ask The Expert lifeline:
“Kalahari and Gobi are examples of what kind of geographical feature?”
Options: A. River, B. Lake, C. Desert, D. Mountain.
With expert help, he correctly chose Option C (Desert) and became a rollover contestant for the next episode.
Amitabh Bachchan praised both young contestants for their sharp minds and curiosity, calling them “the future scientists and leaders of India.”
