BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused CM Revanth Reddy of failing to deliver on Congress’s pre-poll promises during a campaign event in Jubilee Hills.
BRS working president questions Congress’s credibility before November 11 election
Hyderabad, October 12 — Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government, accusing it of failing to deliver on key pre-poll promises.
Speaking at a public meeting in Jubilee Hills, KTR questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s moral authority to seek votes again, citing “zero implementation” of several flagship assurances, including monthly financial aid to women and one tola gold for brides under state welfare schemes.
“Revanth Reddy promised that he will provide ₹2,500 to every woman. Did he give that to anyone in two years? He said one tola gold would be given to girls at the time of their marriage. Did anyone get that? On what basis is he asking for votes again?” KTR said, addressing BRS supporters.
He urged voters in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency to “teach Congress a lesson” for what he termed as “betrayal of public trust.”
Jubilee Hills by-election to be held on November 11
The remarks came shortly after the Election Commission of India (ECI) officially announced the schedule for the 61-Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election in Hyderabad district.
According to the ECI’s release,
- The last date for filing nominations is October 21.
- Scrutiny of nominations will take place on October 22.
- The last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 24.
- Polling will be conducted on November 11, and vote counting will occur on November 14.
- The entire election process will be completed by November 16.
The by-election was necessitated following the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath, whose wife, Maganti Sunitha, has been named the BRS candidate.
By-elections across seven states on the same day
The Election Commission of India also announced that by-elections will be held in eight assembly constituencies across seven states and Union Territories on November 11.
These include:
- Budgam and Nagrota in Jammu & Kashmir
- Anta in Rajasthan
- Ghatshila in Jharkhand
- Jubilee Hills in Telangana
- Tarn Taran in Punjab
- Dampa in Mizoram

The vacancies have arisen due to resignations, deaths, or disqualifications of sitting MLAs.
Political temperature rising in Hyderabad
The Jubilee Hills bypoll has emerged as one of the most closely watched contests in Telangana, with the ruling Congress, the BRS, and the BJP all vying for dominance in the Greater Hyderabad region.
KTR’s remarks mark the beginning of a heated campaign season, as both the BRS and Congress prepare for a high-stakes electoral showdown on November 11.
