NCERT’s new educational modules on Operation Sindoor, raising awareness about India’s military response and unity.
The NCERT has introduced two special educational modules on Operation Sindoor for students from classes 3 to 12. These modules explain the military mission not just as a defense operation but as a promise to protect peace and honor the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Released over three months after Operation Sindoor, the materials are part of the school curriculum aimed at raising awareness about India’s military strength.
The modules detail that although Pakistan denied involvement in the Pahalgam attack, it was carried out under direct orders from Pakistan’s military and political leadership. They describe how India launched missile and air strikes on May 7, 2025, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, destroying seven terror camps and key centers of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The operation was carefully planned to avoid civilian casualties, emphasizing India’s commitment to precise actions.
There are two modules: “Operation Sindoor – A Saga of Valour” for classes 3 to 8 and “Operation Sindoor – A Mission of Honour and Bravery” for classes 9 to 12. They describe India’s advanced defense systems like the S-400, which protected Indian airspace, and highlight nationwide solidarity, including protests and support from local communities, such as Muslim groups in Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Bhopal, and peaceful resistance in Kashmir.
The modules also explain that the name “Operation Sindoor” honors the widows of the Pahalgam terror attack victims, symbolizing empathy and respect. They connect Operation Sindoor with past military responses to terrorism, such as the Balakot air strikes in 2019, and earlier wars defending the nation. Overall, these educational materials aim to educate students about India’s resolute fight against terrorism and unity among its people.
