AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi in Purnea, Bihar, says politics cannot be a one-sided love affair as he criticises RJD over alliance talks.
Purnia (Seemanchal): AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday took a sharp dig at the RJD for its lukewarm response to his party’s call for an alliance in Bihar, saying politics cannot run on “one-sided love affairs.”
Speaking to reporters in Purnea district during his tour of the Seemanchal region, which has a significant Muslim population, the Hyderabad MP made it clear that his party is entering the election “to win” and not to play second fiddle.
“Our desire for a tie-up was not out of weakness. But let me remind everyone — there can’t be a one-sided love affair in politics. Such things only look good in Bollywood movies, between college boys and girls,” Owaisi quipped, sending out a clear warning to potential allies.
When asked about the controversy over “I Love Muhammad” posters in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, Owaisi came out strongly in defense of the community. “What’s wrong if Muslims express love for their Prophet? I fail to understand what problem the BJP-RSS have. If they call this anti-national, then it means they are opposed to love itself — though they seem to enjoy it in movies,” he said.
The AIMIM chief underlined that faith and freedom of expression are enshrined in the Constitution. “India’s beauty lies in its ability to let different religions grow together. The Constitution guarantees this freedom to every citizen,” Owaisi stressed.
He further pointed out that Muslims, though not a majority, remain the largest community in the subcontinent within India. “Instead of acknowledging this diversity, the BJP-RSS combine is damaging India’s reputation with its divisive politics,” he alleged.
By blending political punch with sharp rhetoric, Owaisi made it clear his party is ready to go solo if ignored, while also striking at the BJP-RSS for targeting Muslim identity in the name of nationalism.
