One of the accused shooters in the firing at Disha Patani’s ancestral home arrested after encounter in Bareilly; juvenile shooters also held in Delhi
One of the five shooters involved in the firing at film actor Disha Patani’s ancestral house was arrested on Friday, along with an associate, following an encounter in Bareilly, police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya reported that the accused, Ramanivas, sustained a bullet injury in his leg during the encounter. His associate Anil was also taken into custody.
A video of the incident surfaced showing Ramanivas lying on the ground with folded hands, promising police, “Baba ke UP mein kabhi nahi aayenge sir” (I will never come to Baba’s UP again, sir). ‘Baba’ referred to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Police seized a .32 bore pistol, four live cartridges, and four spent shells from the accused. Ramanivas confessed his involvement in the firing and said he had been on the run since the incident, SSP Arya said.
Meanwhile, two juvenile shooters, aged about 17 years and part of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Barar gang linked to the same case, were arrested in Delhi by the Special Cell of Delhi Police. Both hail from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, and carry rewards of Rs 1 lakh each.
Two other shooters, Arun and Ravindra, were killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) with Haryana and Delhi Police teams in Ghaziabad on September 17.
