Bhatti Vikramarka, Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Telangana High Court featured in a representation of the recent court verdict.
The Telangana High Court has dismissed criminal cases against deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy. The cases were related to a rally organized in January 2021, during which Congress leaders marched from the Secretariat to Raj Bhavan. Their demand was for the repeal of the central government’s three farm laws and a reduction in petrol and diesel prices.
Police had filed cases accusing Bhatti, Uttam, and other Congress members of holding the rally without official permission and blocking traffic by conducting a gathering near the Telugu Thalli statue. However, both leaders challenged these charges in court, asking for the cases to be dropped.
Justice K Lakshman of the High Court reviewed the case and ruled in favor of the leaders. The court stated there was no evidence to show that public peace was disturbed during the rally and confirmed that there were no records of any provocative speeches being made by the leaders. As a result, the charges could not be sustained.
In the same decision, the High Court also dismissed two cases of alleged electoral malpractice against former MP G Ranjith Kumar Reddy. The ruling was made after hearing arguments from the public prosecutor and reviewing all available evidence.
