Meteorological Department warns of heavy rain in Telangana; Hyderabad experiences up to 15 cm rainfall causing floods and traffic disruptions
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across Telangana, predicting moderate to heavy rain in several districts over the next three hours. Areas expected to be affected include Karimnagar, Mulugu, Janagama, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, and Rangareddy. Thunder and lightning may also occur in these locations, and residents are advised to go outside only if absolutely necessary.
This warning comes after a week of continuous rain in Telangana, with Hyderabad experiencing particularly heavy downpours on Wednesday. The city saw up to 15 cm of rain in just a few hours, causing severe waterlogging. Roads turned into ponds, disrupting traffic at major intersections late into the night. Overflowing drains further worsened the situation, and some two-wheeled vehicles were swept away by floodwaters.
