Senior IPS officer V C Sajjanar has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, replacing C V Anand.
The Telangana government on Saturday appointed senior IPS officer V C Sajjanar as the new Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad.
He succeeds C V Anand, who has been transferred and posted as Special Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department.
A 1996-batch IPS officer, Sajjanar began his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Jangaon (Warangal district) and later at Pulivendula in Cuddapah district. After his promotion, he served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in five key districts — Nalgonda, Kadapa, Guntur, Warangal, and Medak.
Sajjanar also handled crucial assignments including SP, Crime Investigation Department (Economic Offences Wing); SP, OCTOPUS (Organisation for Countering Terrorist Operations); and Commandant, 6th Battalion APSP, Mangalagiri.
Upon further promotions, he served as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Inspector General (IG) in the Intelligence Department until March 2018. His work in intelligence operations was widely recognized for strengthening the state’s security apparatus.
From March 2018 to August 2021, Sajjanar held the post of Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, where he gained prominence for his leadership. Later, in September 2021, he took charge as Managing Director of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).
With his return to policing in Hyderabad, Sajjanar brings extensive field and administrative experience, marking another chapter in his long career in law enforcement.
