Rescue teams conduct operations at Chandanahalli lake following fatal car incident
A tragic incident occurred in Karnataka’s Hassan district where a 32-year-old woman named Shweta died after a man allegedly drove a car into a lake following her refusal of his proposal. The accused, Ravi, a married man who had known Shweta from work, reportedly pressured her for months to become his girlfriend, promising to leave his wife for her. Shweta, who was separated from her husband and living with her parents, allegedly rejected his advances.
On Wednesday, Ravi called Shweta to his car and drove into Chandanahalli lake. While Ravi managed to swim to safety, Shweta drowned. Rescue operations were conducted at night, as shown in videos and pictures. During questioning, Ravi claimed the car had accidentally fallen into the lake, but police have filed a murder case based on a complaint by Shweta’s family.
Following the investigation, the police arrested Ravi for the alleged murder. This case highlights the serious consequences of coercion and violence linked to rejected advances. The authorities continue to probe the matter further.
