Uma Bharti, who posed as a police constable and attended VIP events, has been arrested by Hyderabad Police.
A shocking security breach has surfaced in Hyderabad after a woman successfully impersonated a police constable and attended multiple high-security and VIP events without detection.
The accused, identified as Uma Bharti, had appeared for police constable recruitment exams but failed to clear them. Undeterred, she allegedly purchased a khaki uniform and began posing as a serving police constable.
She managed to participate in several official programmes, including:
- The Telangana Talli statue unveiling at the Secretariat
- The Khairatabad Ganesh immersion procession
- Multiple VIP security duties across Hyderabad
Remarkably, even on-duty police personnel mistook her for an actual constable.
Further investigation revealed that she gained unauthorized access to the Cyberabad Police Headquarters, used the canteen like a staff member, and even delivered cybercrime “awareness lectures” in educational institutions under the guise of a police officer.
Her suspicious behaviour during bandobast duty triggered questioning. On verification, officers discovered she had no official police ID, no appointment letter, and no record of ever being employed by the police department.
The Jeedimetla Police arrested her and registered cases under relevant sections for impersonating a government employee and illegally using official police uniform.
The incident has sparked serious concerns within the police department, raising questions about gaps in security checks and access control at major events.
