Vehicles lined up to carry Ganesh idols for immersion as part of BGUS-coordinated event in Hyderabad on September 6
Bhagya Nagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) has decided to follow the tariff set by Hyderabad’s Regional Transport Authority (RTA) for vehicles used in the upcoming Ganesh idol immersion on September 6. The approved rates apply to heavy goods vehicles, trailers, tuskers, medium goods vehicles, and light goods vehicles that will be hired to carry the idols. “This year, more than 1.40 lakh Ganesh pandals are expected to be installed in the city. The pandal committees, depending on the height of the idol installed by them and other needs, will seek vehicles for immersion,” shared Ravinuthala Shashidhar, BGUS general secretary, in a statement to ‘Telangana Today’.
Shashidhar also mentioned that around 30 to 40 percent of pandals tend to immerse their idols three to four days before the centralised immersion. “Then, we would know the exact vehicles required for the main immersion,” he explained, suggesting that vehicle demand becomes clearer as the event approaches.
To streamline the immersion process during the three days leading up to September 6, BGUS will issue tokens and assign time slots for vehicles to carry the idols across Hyderabad. These steps aim to maintain order and convenience for the numerous pandal committees and devotees involved in the grand event.
On the logistics front, the RTA has already started vehicle preparations, with 12 pooling points identified in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and nearby areas to ensure a peaceful procession. “RTA officials assured the provision of the required number of vehicles to ensure the immersion proceeds peacefully,” Shashidhar said. For the notable Khairatabad Ganesh, which features a colossal 69-feet idol, the local organizing committee will arrange its own vehicle for transportation on immersion day.
