Families mourn the loss of victims who died in the Hyderabad electrocution tragedy.
Hyderabad saw a tragic accident in Ramanthapur when five people died after being electrocuted during the Sri Krishan Shobha Yatra. A trailer vehicle accidentally touched an overhead electric wire, which led to the shocking incident on Sunday, August 17, 2025. This sad event has brought pain and worry to many families in the area.
The Telangana government has stepped in to support the victims’ families by announcing ₹5 lakh ex gratia for each family. IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu visited Gandhi Hospital, where the postmortem was being done, and shared that the state will also pay for all medical expenses of those who were injured in the incident.
To prevent such tragedies from happening again, Sridhar Babu said a proper investigation will take place under the district collector’s guidance. The government will take strict action based on what the investigation finds. Steps like these are meant to ensure accountability and justice for the affected families.
Officials have also been told to start a special drive to check all cable and current wires in the Greater Hyderabad area. This will help lower the risk of similar incidents and keep people safe during major public events in the city.
