Scene from Bandlaguda where a Ganesh idol touched high-tension wires, leading to electric shock injuries.
Two people were badly injured in Hyderabad on Monday night when they were electrocuted while moving a Ganesh idol on Bandlaguda road. The incident happened around 1 am, as a group was transporting a large Ganesh idol from Jalpally Ganesh Market to Lal Darwaza on a tractor. When they reached near Royal Sea Hotel, the top of the idol accidentally touched overhead high-tension wires.
The two injured, Akhil and Vikas, were sitting on the tractor and received a strong electric shock. People nearby quickly rushed to their help and took them to a hospital in Hyderabad. Doctors have said their condition is critical. Police are now looking into the incident to find out exactly how it happened.
This accident happened just a day after another tragic incident in the city where six people died in a similar case during a Rath Yatra in Ramanthapur, Uppal. Such incidents have raised serious concerns about safety during religious processions in Hyderabad.
