Repair work on Krishna Drinking Water Project pipelines leading to a temporary water supply disruption in Hyderabad
Several parts of Hyderabad are set to experience a 20-hour disruption in water supply as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) undertakes urgent repair work on pipelines related to the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project. The shutdown will begin at 11 am on September 1 and continue until 7 am on September 2.
The repair work includes fixing a heavy leakage on a 1400 mm pumping main at PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, repairing a 300 mm scour valve at Attapur Musi bridge, and replacing faulty valves at the Mailardevpally pump house. These repairs are critical to maintaining the integrity and functionality of the water supply system.
Specific areas affected by the shutdown include Shaikpet, Jubilee Hills, Filmnagar, Prashasan Nagar, Thattikhana, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Ayyappa Society, and Kavuri Hills. Residents in these localities are advised to store enough water in advance.
Authorities have urged the public to use the available water judiciously during the disruption to minimize inconvenience. The HMWSSB assures that the repair work is being carried out swiftly to restore normal supply at the earliest.
