Google’s AI-powered search feature AI Mode now supports Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese, enhancing global search experience
Google is expanding its AI-powered search feature, “AI Mode,” to five additional languages: Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese. This expansion is part of Google’s global initiative to deeply integrate artificial intelligence into its core search platform. Robby Stein, Vice President of Product at Google Search, announced the rollout on X, highlighting the significant momentum since launching AI Mode in English across 180+ countries last month.
The AI Mode uses a customized version of Google’s Gemini 2.5 model to ensure that responses are culturally relevant and useful in each new language. Initially introduced in English in India, AI Mode is designed to simplify complex search queries that often require multiple attempts, making it especially valuable for exploratory tasks such as trip planning, local recommendations, or understanding complicated instructions.
This feature supports multimodal inputs, allowing users to interact via text, voice, or images. For instance, a user planning a garden can upload a photo and specify preferences, such as night-blooming flowers, receiving personalized advice that integrates visual and textual information. Users have the flexibility to ask follow-up questions to refine their search results further.
With this language expansion, Google aims to transform the traditional keyword-based search into a more conversational, context-aware experience, enhancing the way users engage with information globally and making search more intuitive and interactive across diverse linguistic contexts.
