Hyderabad Youth Courage founder Salman Khan has declared total assets worth ₹5.18 lakh in his affidavit for the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election scheduled for November 11.
In a surprising declaration, Hyderabad Youth Courage founder and president Salman Khan and his wife have declared total assets worth only ₹5,18,101, according to the affidavit filed along with his nomination papers for the Jubilee Hills by-election scheduled on November 11.
The affidavit, submitted to the Election Commission, lists ₹70,000 in cash and ₹14,284 across three bank accounts under Salman Khan’s name. His wife has ₹1,618 in a bank account, ₹20,000 in cash, and three tolas of gold as her declared assets.
The document also confirms that neither Khan nor his wife own any agricultural or non-agricultural land, residential, or commercial property. His three dependents (children) have also been listed as holding no assets or property.
Affidavit Sparks Questions Over Financial Transparency
The low-value declaration has sparked public interest and skepticism, especially in light of past allegations against Salman Khan involving financial fraud, bribery, and misuse of charitable donations.
In previous years, Khan and his organization had faced accusations of misappropriating crowdfunding funds collected for social causes under the banner of Hyderabad Youth Courage.
He was also named in a case where his image was allegedly used to defraud a Begumpet resident of ₹7.9 lakh, though Khan maintained he had no direct role in the incident and had claimed his name was misused.
Background: Jubilee Hills By-Election
The Jubilee Hills Assembly seat fell vacant after the passing of BRS legislator Maganti Gopinath. The Election Commission has scheduled polling for November 11, with the vote counting on November 14.
Khan’s entry into the race adds a new dimension to what is expected to be a high-stakes contest involving major parties including the Congress, BRS, and BJP, alongside independent candidates.
