HMWSSB fines two Hyderabad residents for illegal motor use and wasting drinking water.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has fined two consumers in the city for violating water-use regulations during surprise inspections conducted on Monday, September 21. The inspections were carried out within the Saroornagar Circle limits under the supervision of Malkajgiri Zone Executive Director Pankaja.
A consumer in SK Nagar, Dilsukhnagar, was fined ₹5,000 for using an unauthorised motor. The water board has been conducting inspections to identify illegal motor connections that can affect water pressure and disrupt the supply to other residents. In a separate case, a consumer in Alkapuri Yadav Nagar was fined ₹1,000 for wasting drinking water while cleaning the floor.
The HMWSSB has intensified surprise inspections across Hyderabad to prevent the misuse of drinking water.
Officials have warned that repeat violations could attract higher penalties and possible disconnection of water connections. Residents have been urged to avoid illegal motor use and conserve drinking water, particularly amid rising demand and concerns over water availability.
