Thunderstorms are expected to hit Hyderabad from 8:15 pm, with IMD predicting rain in multiple city zones and nearby Telangana districts.
Hyderabad is set to witness severe thunderstorms on Saturday evening, according to local weather enthusiast T Balaji. The storms will initially impact the southern, northern, and eastern parts of the city before covering the entire city by midnight.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has also issued a warning of moderate rains with thunderstorms in several key areas, including Rajendranagar, Charminar, LB Nagar, Uppal, Osmania University, Secunderabad, Kapra, Malkajgiri, Abids, and Quthbullapur.
Residents have been urged to stay alert as the rains may cause waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and temporary power outages in low-lying and densely populated localities of the city.
The weather department has further predicted heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana until 8:30 am on September 22.
Thunderstorms are also likely to continue in scattered parts of Telangana until September 26, suggesting an extended spell of unstable weather conditions.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the night, keep emergency supplies ready, and follow traffic updates to stay safe.
With Hyderabad already facing frequent heavy showers this monsoon, today’s storm is expected to add to rainfall totals, further impacting daily life and possibly delaying weekend plans.
