36 Bulldozers Shower Flowers on BJP Chief Nitin Nabin During Meerut Welcome

BJP national president Nitin Nabin received an unusual welcome in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on September 21, when a fleet of bulldozers lined up at a toll plaza to greet him during his two-day visit to western Uttar Pradesh. The brightly painted bulldozers were decorated with BJP flags and banners, while reports stated that flower petals were showered on Nabin and other leaders as part of the reception. Different reports put the number of bulldozers at between 25 and 36.

The welcome took place as Nabin began a visit focused on reviewing the BJP’s organisational preparations ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. According to reports, nearly five quintals of flowers were showered from the bulldozers, while a crane was used to present the BJP chief with a large floral garland. Nabin also addressed a Yuva Sammelan and a Shakti Kendra Sammelan at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University in Meerut.

The use of bulldozers during the reception drew political attention because of their association with demolition drives carried out by the Uttar Pradesh administration. Congress spokesperson Abhimanyu Tyagi criticised the BJP’s decision, saying the display was insensitive toward traders and residents facing demolition-related concerns. During the second day of his visit, Nabin was scheduled to hold meetings with party leaders and workers in Meerut and Saharanpur, besides visiting the Augharnath Temple and Siddhapeeth Shakambhari Devi Temple.
